Looking towards Alexanderplatz from Mitte. I think Berlin is definitely one of the most interesting places I've ever visited. There seems to be so much going on and so much to see.
The photo is of the Fernsehturm, built in the late 1960s when apparently relations between East and West were at a particular low point. It was meant to be an assertion of Communism's dynamism and modernity.
The Communists were slightly hacked off with the fact, that when the sun shines on the glass ball at the top of the tower, it apparently forms the shape of a cross. Sadly I never got to see this when I was there because the weather was pretty much the same as you can see in the photo the whole time I was there. It was fucking freezing.
I must get back to Berlin soon.
